2023 | Creative AI Vermont: Symposium on Artificial Intelligence +

With Co-Organizer Chris Thompson and Burlington City Arts, I’m excited to share that registration opened this week for the Vermont Creative AI: Symposium on Artificial Intelligence + Art. Other upcoming programs include a AI Ethics panel.

Additionally, we’ve developed programming for young adults and families. Join Burlington City Arts and me for an Earth Day activity on Saturday, April 22. If you are a high school student or know of any, together with Lisa Dian of Girls Who Code, and the UVM Art + AI Research Group, we’ve created an art + AI workshop for the symposium on Saturday, April 15.

Creative AI Vermont is a full-day symposium dedicated to examining how artists are engaging with the rapidly emerging field of creative and generative artificial intelligence (AI). Held in conjunction with our exhibition Co-Created: The Artist in the Age of Intelligent Machines and co-hosted by the University of Vermont, the inaugural Creative AI Vermont symposium presents local and international perspectives, Co-Created artists, and visiting AI thought-leaders while examining creative approaches to AI and artistic practice. The symposium features artist talks and technical workshops as well as a youth-focused, hands-on workshop for Vermont high school students.

Family Art Day – Earth Day

Saturday, April 22, 11am-2pm

Get creative and make art together at Family Art Saturday. Join us at the BCA Center for a make-and-take art activity that connects with our exhibit Co-Created: The Artist in the Age of Intelligent Machines. Inspired by Jenn Karson’s Damaged Leaf Dataset project that considers maple and oak leaves damaged by spongy moth outbreaks, the activity invites individuals and families to create mixed-media artworks that also explore AI solutions to Vermont’s climate-change crisis alongside the artist. Free and open to the public.
