Damaged Leaf Dataset Update: July 15, 2022.
After the spongy moth outbreak, the Oaks continue to show resilience. The bottom left photo (6/19/22) shows the extreme defoliation from the caterpillars, at the middle left (7/3/22) shows the trees growing a second set of leaves in one season! Yes, that’s right, the second set of leaves! This morning’s top left photo (7/15/22) shows continued leaf growth. The photo right shows the new leaves close-up; I love their hopeful and triumphant asymmetry.
